This building is the famous Harbin opera house located on the bank of the Songhua River in my hometown, Harbin. The design was inspired by the surrounding wetland natural scenery and the geographic features of the northeastern land in winter.
The white outer walls of the opera house seems to be the cells than can breathe, and 'photosynthesis' take place under the sunshine. The glass skylight at the top of the Harbin opera house maximizes the natural light from outside into the interior. Natural light falls on the wall in the atrium of the opera house, enabling people to feel the transparency and ethereality of the sunlight.
